Purpose

As the Compliance Manager you will provide proactive support to the Head of Compliance Monitoring, in the formulation and implementation of the appropriate strategy to manage new development initiatives to help Monitoring and investigations meet the stated goals. To ensure that, as the Group grows, its overall control framework continues to develop to support the business and meet regulatory requirements.

You will support the day to day provision of advice to the business to enable the business to meet its obligations in respect of Financial Crime, Fraud, AML regulation and legislation.

Key responsibilities 

  • Provide oversight over investigations conducted by the team members using challenge and collaboration and conduct own investigations ensuring they are completed with appropriate diligence.

  • Drive and set standards for good practice with respect to investigations work.

  • Complete root cause analysis, following investigations, making recommendations for control improvements, and liaising with/supporting Management to progress implementation of these controls.

  • To provide support in reviewing the effectiveness of systems and controls in respect of financial crime, recommend changes where appropriate and assist in relevant governance and reporting activities.

  • Undertake, guide and set standards for Compliance Monitoring work ensuring delivery to plan.

  • Working collaboratively with other second line areas to deliver/enable a comprehensive second line support and oversight function, while retaining independence.

  • Deputise for the Head of Compliance Monitoring, as required.

  • Work in conjunction with the Heads of Compliance as required in the conduct of their duties in relation to compliance and wider regulatory matters.

  • Seek opportunities to develop and implement further development ideas, processes, tools and initiatives that help the function in delivering conduct risk best practices.

  • Contribute to the training, development and support of the team.

What we’re looking for 

  • Background in Financial crime prevention, including AML, Fraud, Sanctions & PEPs

  • Expert knowledge of UK and EU AML regulations and JMLSG guidelines.

  • Highly analytical with experience conducting desk/ themed reviews and writing reports

  • An enquiring mind and proven ability to learn quickly.

  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.

  • Possessing an attention to detail with a focused commitment to achieving quality.

  • Ability to communicate appropriately at all levels.

  • High level of IT literacy, including Microsoft Office packages.

  • Knowledge of Financial Conduct Authority and Prudential Conduct Authority regulations and compliance framework.

  • High level of customer orientation and excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

  • Previous leadership experience and the ability to influence stakeholders.

  • Experience in a Financial Crime or Compliance role in a senior capacity in an FCA regulated financial services firm would be an advantage.
